The only folks who know class shifts are humans...Horses don't have an inkling as to whether they run for 8K or 12.5K

Except that the horses they face will generally be different.

The average pace at a higher class will be faster.

The moves required to get, maintain, or improve position will tend to be faster and more taxing.

Rivals won't quit as quickly during a battle. They'll sustain it longer.

Rivals may beat you to a move or hole because they can accelerate faster.

There are plenty of measurable and subtle things going on at higher classes that will impact performance.

Consciousness vs. instinct, class.
Rationality vs. non-rationality.

For Salih, as a blanket statement, for a favorite who isn't odds on, the second through fourth odds ranked horses will win roughly half the races. Look for a stalker/closer vs. habitual front runners, or vice versa, especially for those in the bottom 15-20% win group.
Cheerio.

UNDERRATED HORSES (Well Handicapped)

Methods for identifying underrated horses can be very diverse. Due to many factors, not every underrated horse wins the race. But every race is won by underrated horses. The trick is to correctly identify the underrated horses.
