I heard yesterday that life of machine has been defined as 5 years.

I just restarted my computer for the first time with Windows 10.
It seemed to take longer than usual.
I was worried by a black screen for several seconds (10 or more)and then it ultimately came up. Whew.

Bootup times seem to be longer here, too. Plus, my machine is running much hotter than before. It is possible that Microsoft has a lot of background things going on after the installation and that these various delays and heavy processing will subside (at least I hope they will).

You can run one of these programs and verify your thoughts about overheating.

The above two are on this list but they are programs I previously used and didn't have a problem with.

Rebooting (i.e., restarting) takes about twice as long as before (seems like three times, but I get impatient, so it is more likely twice.).

Haven't upgraded as of yet. So, what are we talking about more than 1 minute currently my wait time is about 30 seconds or less.
Any one have problems with DVD song or movie playbacks or any other problems?

A boot takes less than a minute on my machine. A restart (shut down and restart) takes about a minute.
My understanding is that DVD playback is not natively supported. I have not tried to play a movie on this machine. Here's a recent article on movie playback:

My boot up and restarts actually seem faster, but even if wrong they aren't slow by any means.

The only thing I have encountered, and I do not know if it is related to 10, is that I have trouble launching Chrome out of sleep mode and have to reboot. The laptop is less than a month old. This problem has happened during padt 2 days. I upgraded on the first day.

I'm happy with my modified Windows 8 with Classic Shell.
Unsure if it's really worth it downloading Windows 10, as Classic Shell made it so I have a start button in Windows 8 and can skip the modern interface.
