Who ran the best race in the derby?

Personally I think the horses who ran the best races were
Jock lost control briefly but finished strong after a hot start
Fouled at two separate occasions by the 7 and still kept coming
overcame ground loss and was in position to win late
overcame a horrible start and made up a ton of ground on the leaders. He was still running at the end still. Maybe take a break and head to the Belmont? I feel like he wants to run all day

Horses I don’t want to bet back.
Jock gave him a perfect trip to finish where he did but never threatened a win
my pick. Same as above. Perfect trip but wasn’t nearly good enough

Uhhhhhh Tacitus

Stuck behind horses in traffic in the backstretch, and turn. Bobbed and weaved his way through horses just eating mud the whole way and ended up 4th. Looked to me to be the only horse really eating up ground over the final 1.5 furlongs. 2nd best horse in the race imo to the “winner”

Code of Honor 3rd best horse in the race but benefitted from that rail run.

War of Will 4th best, had to be checked when the came over and fouled him.

Country House 5th best but your actual “winner”

I think if they had a brain and cut down spacing between the races when they knew there was gonna be rain and we ran this raw over a dry fast track still wins with finishing out the tri somehow.

Maximum Security. He was headed by Country House for a brief moment but he gutted it out. If his stretch run wasn't a show of heart, then I don't know what is.

That would be my pick for best horse in the race yesterday, a warrior type horse.

#1 was full of run it was his race to lose and he did just that, he had an opening on the rail but didn't take that golden opportunity
not sure whos to blame jockey or horse or both. imo it sure wasn't any other horse.

Game Winner by far. I added up the lengths he was behind from the chart and he was 19 off after a quarter and 14 off after a 1/2 mile. Put in a tremendous run while being wild, losing a ton of ground as someone else pointed out.

Code of Honor/Johnny V
That horse is so maneuverable and Johnny a great tactician. He got outta that mess somewhow...wow.

Max Security proved he's game, but I think the post positions and subsequent race set up really favoured him. Had early runners head up front from the far outside who had to get used early to get there and took a position that could've faired other runners better. Many good horses forced to go wide. Maybe that's just any large field...but in this race, when any had their chances to make moves, Max fouled.

So your saying if MS stays in his lane WOW runs him down? I think that would be hard to project.

Max Security lost his momentum just like War of Will. The difference was Max Security dug back in and pulled away for the win and War of Will flattened out to 8th.

If Max Security ran against the 3 "victimized" horses Long Range Toddy, War of Will and Country House than Max Security would be 1/9 and rightfully so.

If you believe War of Will was the best horse in the race than I am guessing you still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Nobody was beating MAXIMUM SECURITY yesterday, but the horse that had to check up hard and i think would have finished 3rd without the ricochet action would have been LONG RANGE TODDY.

Its hard to say if Long Range Toddy would have finished third or not but its hard to believe that richocet action caused him to finish 17th instead of 3rd. Thats a big difference to blame on a fairly ordinary looking bump in my opinion.

I really don't get how they decide to switch placings of the horses in an instance like this. With multiple potential fouls, they just go with who asked first, and if there's more than one, draw straws? Explain to me like I'm 5.
