Heck, he doesn't even need to ever race again, as he is "technically" undefeated.

Wonder how long anyone will get to "enjoy" him? I'm gonna guess he wins the Preakness and then it's over.

I can't speak for Breeder's, but the point I was making stands.

If I was a Breeder or an owner interested in the offspring of either MS or CH, I wouldn't give a rats ass who the official winner was and who officially has the black type. I'm breeding to MS and buying MS babies over CH all day every day.

Absolutely. No debate in the present time. mS is the better horse and also has speed

1980

I guess the stewards didn't remember the mauling that Genuine Risk took from Codex entering the stretch in the 1980 Preakness and the ensuing foul claim that was denied.

I wonder if objections in big field (12+) races will increase as the year goes on....

Michael Blowen of Old Friends was interviewed on Fox News. He said, very matter-of-factly, that the right call was made.

Some people don't think that Country House is good horse...Why? Why was he at such high odds? Of all of the horses running, he (and Improbable) showed one of the highest speeds run on a wet track. He ran third to Omaha Beach in the Arkansas Derby...not good?

Country House ran well in this 20-horse field. I do hope that they enter him in the Preakness, along with Maximum Security. I'd like to see this match-up again.

he entered the Derby as both a wild-card and an extreme underlay.

Ran his first(lifetime) legitimate early-pace fraction in the derby, and then was tactical/fundamentally-sound enough to slow the pace down. Made his own dream trip. The other horses and riders were almost as helpless as in the Florida Derby when it wasn't clear whether lack-of-pace and close-proximity to the first turn were wholly responsible for his tactical domination.

Now we know that he's actually a real racehorse and not a claimer with a wig on. We still don't know whether he can handle a hot early pace, or mid-race moves, but there's no guarantee that he'll ever see those in races 9f+.

stamina horses aren't valued in the U.S.
He's a stamina guy. the speedy ones have 3.00 or high dosage indexes.

Country House, Code of Honor, both have DIs well below 2.00. So does War of Will. That is stamina over speed. Those are "my kinda horses" but they don't have the speed that our Derby requires. Usually I will only use "one" of these in a KY Derby.

Many people all over the world value his kind of breeding. We have little use for horses who can run over 10F. It's a real shame. Everyone already knows this about U.S. racing and breeders breed here for that.

Big Brown had the stamina dosage though. So did Animal Kingdom.
Seattle Slew and I'll Have Another were right around 2.00.

Usually the 3.00s and over win these days because derby favors speed.

I'd love to see some stamina injected into our horses and we won't get that with the way they're breeding for the U.S tracks these days. One of the reasons I've gotten away from U.S. racing. I love the classic distance horses 10F-12F-14F etc.

I don't have the link right now, but they have no intention entering him in the Preakness.

I really enjoy watching this horse run and that stretch run was one of the gutsiest if not THE gutsiest runs I've ever seen.

Clicknow!! Add longevity on the track to that, and then we've got an awesome sport to really get excited about.

Max is fine off to Monmouth , no Preakness. Take that Triple Crown. The Derby winner is skipping the Preakness. love it. Pimlico gets another kick in the balls. Horse racing lol.

I don't see why they'd want to go Preakness after the DQ.

I wouldn't even go to the Belmont.

Me neither. And I doubt they will bring Max there. Wonder if the owners even want to run GW in those races now.

Sometimes I wonder about things like this.

Virtually every wise guy on planet earth was somewhere between somewhat skeptical of him or outright hated him because he wired in a slow pace on a speed favoring surface in the FL Derby.

So you have to wonder, if everyone and his brother tossed him, maybe his odds fully reflected the risk that he was fraud or more.

It's one thing when the horse has already been exposed when challenged and then puts up a big figure with an easy lead. But when you don't know yet, maybe more often than not they turn out to actually be very good horses.

This is more of a rhetorical comment. I don't the probability. I just know a lot of these lightly raced ones beat me. I didn't use him, but I wasn't anxiously throwing him out either.
