Post 1 will be left empty for the derby

Will Pablo Del Monte electing not to run officials have announced that post 1 in the starting gate will be left open, and horses 1-10 will shift outward one stall.

That news really makes Vicars in Trouble a standout play as a back up to California Chrome if your playing the Pick 3's and Pick 4's and also as a solid play in the underneath exotics.

What has Vicars in Trouble done wrong ?

The horse had a rough first outing but than rebounded to break his maiden in his second start posting a speed figure that many of these horses have never come close to running.

Than he stretches out in his first start as a 3 year old in the Le Comte and romps home easily despite racing very greenly.

Than he stretches out again in the Risen Star and despite a brutal post and a even more brutal trip, he displays tons of grit and makes a huge middle move and finishes a very good 3rd.

Than he stretches out in the LA derby and again romps posting a speed figure that was even better than the one he posted as a two year old. A speed figure that only 2 horses in the field have ever matched.

His form cycle shows he is on edge and primed to run the best race of his life. The "slow" final work he had for the derby was the exact same work he had before his win in the LA derby.

Rosie breaking from the 2 hole will have no problem getting this speedy horse to the lead and securing a spot right on top of the golden churchill rail. The only question is if the horse will be able to hold off Chrome when he takes his run at Vicars entering the stretch.

I think California Chrome is a super horse so I love the Chrome/Vicars exacta ice cold, but in case something happens to Chrome than having Vicars keyed on top to the rest of the field is a solid insurance policy.

Wicked Strong breaking from the outside post has no chance to finish ahead of Vicars who will have a golden rail trip. Intense holiday got dusted by Vicars last time and Vicars was the better horse on the Risen Star when factoring in the post and trip.

Who's really left that can beat Vicars besides Chrome ???

A bet - Chrome/Vicars Ice cold exacta.

B bet - Vicars on top keyed with the rest of the field.

C bet - pick 3 Untappable , Wise Dan, Chrome/Vicars

This does make a big difference for me as well, back to the drawing board a little.
