Corniche
Was there ever any news or announcement as to what happened to Corniche & why he's been MIA? The last thing I could find in DRF were quotes from early Feb that he was at Winstar farm & getting ready to come back to the work tab shortly. For an undefeated 2yo champ it seems like nobody has really cared about his whereabouts at all. I wonder if that would've been a lot different if the horses behind him in the BC came back to be productive.

I don't think it's a function of people not caring so much as a function of WinStar and the connections staying mum. They were decidedly tight lipped in February despite the horse originally only going to the farm for a "freshening" back in November. Bloodstock agent referred all inquiries to the owners, who didn't return phone calls.
The track record of horses returning from a WinStar freshening are nothing to write home about.
Monomoy Girl went there last year for a "freshening" and only a couple of weeks after going back to Brad Cox's barn ended up with a sesamoid fracture before she even made it back to the worktab. Saratoga Oaks winner Con Lima died there a couple of weeks ago when about to return to Todd Pletcher's barn.
A quick google search of the phrase "sent to WinStar" revealed these names (many of whom never ran again):
Audible
Gemologist
Uncle Mo
Justify
Super Saver
Exaggerator
Battalian Runner
Life is Good, Country Grammer, and Colonel Liam all just went there for some "R & R" after Dubai, so keep your fingers crossed...

A couple of months ago I read they weren’t in any kind of rush to make the Triple Crown but were planning a summer campaign. If there were no setbacks, he should be in training at least soon. Then he’d hit the work tab.
IMO, it’s a tricky one. He’s obviously very talented, but that Juvenile hasn’t be productive. If they stopped now, they might be better off than running and getting beaten up. But if they are very confident in his talent and ability to move forward at 3, there are a lot big races after the Triple Crown.

Interesting question that I'll never have to answer.
$1.5M purchase that is 3 for 3 for $1.2M and 2 G1s under his belt. His pedigree is obviously fantastic, and he'll be in demand as sire. But for what price?
Do you risk running for maybe another $2 to $6M if he actually does progress into the horse you think as to why you purchased for $1.5M? Amazing summer circuit for 3YOs outside of the Triple Crown capped by the Travers, and if good enough, one can still kind of dream about the BC again.

Right on schedule for a summer campaign. He should be ready by early June if there are no setbacks.

Back in action today at Saratoga in G2 Amsterdam at 6.5F (race 9).
Not the easiest of fields and the Accretive for Chad Brown rolls in off an impressive maiden win 1st out.
Should have the pace edge if he is sharp in his comeback.

mysterious lay ups never seem to end well....probably worth playing this race as Corniche will account for the takeout and more.

I didn't pick Corniche to win, but I didn't expect or want to see him pulled up.

Being short would be no big deal, but with the interruptions to his training and the way some people said he was training recently, to deliver a performance like that, you have to wonder why they brought him back.
