Nolen would probably have to seek asylum in GB if she loses by a nose. She goes back to AUS a national treasure. Thanks for the memories, your a grand girl.
One of the greatest moment in my racing history.
I remember spiking my half-full beer when they hit the wire!

Where are you getting the sectionals?
I tried Trakus and no coverage.

At her previous rate of speed she would have covered those last 75 meters in a bit over four seconds. At her later rate of speed she would have covered them in just over 5 seconds. It's hard to believe that under normal circumstances in which she was ridden to the wire and not put in deceleration mode she couldn't have run two or three ticks faster than 5+ seconds in the last 75 meters. In addition, the force required to overcome the inertia of a 1250-pound horse being eased down in the last 250 feet is enormous . That 3-second differential between the final two furlongs is surely due to Nolen's miscue and it wouldn't be a stretch to think she could have won by at least a couple of lengths which wouldn't have been far off the difference between her rating and that of Moonlight Cloud.
The horses made up a half-length on her at most when he stopped riding her. You're keep wanting to think she was going to win by several lengths but there's no indication anywhere that this is true.

The differential is due to the first and last furlongs on that course being the slowest. It's uphill. And the mare was tiring (see the trainer noting how tired she was after). And maybe a tiny little tick in time for a half-length slowdown.

.
Being a newbie to this, I can't see that it matters much. She won, period, and from what I have heard won't be racing again.

She had nothing left - no way he was going to get her to open up.
She won on heart more than legs.

Don't think anyone disputes she won. How horses win and lose is always looked at - handicapping's a big part of the sport.

She hasn't been retired. They said they will discuss plans for her.

There's a 1 US$ Million bonus if she were to win the HK Sprint on top of the purse money.

I guess she runs next month at Newmarket in the July Cup.
Hopefully, the ground will be firmer by then.
I don't think the ground was too soft today, though.

Had she run against Frankel this week, I think she gets beat.
Anyone think she shows up at the BC races?? If so, which one??

I'm hoping she's okay. Travel can mess a horse up pretty bad, and it may be that's the problem here.

lots of good judges say she was trotting up lame after the race.
whatever, that was not the real bc.

and to the person that said she has beaten nothing in australia, may i suggest you get a new hobby, because you obviously have no idea where horse racing is concerned.

Vets checked BC over immediately after race and stated she was absolutely fine. She always has had bad front legs and one spays out.

Before racing, jockey stated ground was absolutely perfect.
Nolan had already experienced Ascot in earlier races. The uphill track would ease the stress on her front legs and the excellent grass cover and yielding turf suit her huge weight and power.

Nolan only stopped riding for one stride as the mare was tiring. That had absolutely no effect on her racing speed. She was whipped several times once the runners up started to close too tightly and was fully able to compete to the line.
She ran a 10.84 sectional penultimate furlong - so absolutely nothing wrong with her physically.

Horses coming from Europe to Breeders Cup in California still win.

"It is now commonplace for horses to travel more than 30 hours in a plane, stopping a couple of times, touching down in a new environment, and then being asked to produce their best. It is commonplace, but still risky, as it can all go terribly wrong if the horse takes fright or if the dreaded travel sickness strikes.
Thankfully, Nelly, or the Wonder from Down Under as Black Caviar is known, hardly turned a hair on her journey and when they unzipped her specially-designed Lycra suit, custom-made to aid blood movement during the flight, the mare was able to quickly settle in to her new stable at Abingdon Place on Newmarket’s Bury Road and continue her preparation for her biggest assignment yet. She even had a brisk gallop earlier this week to clear her wind and stretch her legs."

Not competing in UK July Cup to make amends but going straight home - so owners/trainer have no confidence that it was just an off day.
