He's had several rides there this week. It's the ground and the finish being on an incline. In a post race interview he said she throttled down when he stopped pushing her. She never does that, she keeps on cruising. She's used to running on tracks that are flat as a pancake.

I guess she runs next month at Newmarket in the July Cup.
Hopefully, the ground will be firmer by then.
I don't think the ground was too soft today, though.
Had she run against Frankel this week, I think she gets beat.

Frankel would have absolutely destroyed and demoralized her.

You're right...she's heading home.
Trainer Moody says she may have run her last race.

"Not right diring the race".....Retirement being considered....trainer/jock may be interviewed on TVG shortly.
The English talking head might turn out looking like big fool after his tirade about the jock's ride.

I am not a huge fan of horses tweeting, but, it sounds like she's hurt.
@blackcaviar2006: Luke, thank you for taking care of me. No one else knows the bond between us - we got there in the end, met the Queen.

This is a great sport
Says a lot about how racing has globalized with all the interest from all over the world at Ascot this week.
20-30 years ago, this wouldn't have happened.

Schrupp just stated, "a 36 hour flight". However one looks at it--this was one long airline trip for a race horse. Amazing. If she is retired, she goes out a great champion. A rest certainly earned.

Judging by Moody's post-race reaction, he has a feeling she is not right.
She will obviously be checked out thoroughly.
Hopefully, it's nothing more than 22 races catching up to her.

If she is retired, what a story-book ending to her career - lurching her head out for the wire in a last gasp win even while running hurt.
What a movie this will make!

Or possibly none of those. Moonlight Cloud is a Group 1 winner in France and in top form coming off a facile Group 3 win three weeks ago giving weight to the field. She is rated 10 pounds below Black Caviar in 2012. That translates to three to four lengths at 6f. Maybe Black Caviar wasn't going to win by that far but she was clear near the end never having been touched by the whip when Nolan eased her. In a drive I believe she could have easily won by a couple of lengths. Tom Kerr of the Racing Post wrote "...she was heading for an easy victory after powering a length clear of front-runner Soul." The soft going may have played a role as she had never run on anything other than good or good to soft, but I don't think the travel, losing a step or what she defeated in Australia had anything to do with it. This was nearly a Shoemaker/Gallant Man Kentucky Derby moment but fortunately Nolan woke up at the last instant.

Nonsense. Nolan's error cost her a neck to half-length, nowhere near a couple of lengths.

Not many horses are still 100% at age 6 after 20+ starts. Most tend to wear down as they age and accumulate tough races.
She had a great career and went out demonstrating her class.
