I enjoyed the trip back in time.

Here's his first start. You can't see if from this angle, but he got left badly at the start.

Here's his 2nd start. He got left again and rushed up inside on a day when the inside was very bad. Cruguet eventually got him well off the rail.

It's also worth looking at the start of his Kentucky Derby where he got left again, rushed up, bulled his way through and set a very fast pace.

He did so many freaky things right from the start of his career, but somehow didn't get full credit until he lost in the JCGC in an amazing effort.

I went to Three Cimneys and got a "slew" of photographs of him and Slew O'Gold in their paddocks

Not knowing thier protocol on viewing the stallions, I went to the office told them who I was (I had called earlier to let them know I was coming after first writing them weeks before). "I can just walk out there by myself and shoot the photos," I aksed. Their response was great: "If we suspect you are doing anyting to harm or aggitate them, we will just SHOOT YOU!"

My beloved late father, knowing I was a huge horse racing fan as a relative kid, took me to the 1977 Belmont Stakes. It's my absolute favorite sporting memory as a long-time fan of multiple sports.

Still remember the Belmont upper stand rocking up and down when it was apparent Seattle Slew was about to win the Triple Crown. When Slew hit the stretch in the lead, it was the most electric sporting event I've ever attended and may ever attend.
