I am all for eating crow if it means being witness to watching UM run such a good race. I really thought he had something deeply wrong with his immune system. Underestimating two guys that have made millions making these tough decisions was shortsighted on may part. Hope he proves me wrong as it would be a great comeback story, but still want to see him perform outside of NY.

What happened to the Hawthorne Gold Cup? wasn't it usually ran today as well?
Haw Gold Cup day is this Saturday. Carey Memorial and probably another stake on the card as well.

Uh, no, I see no fun in that (re: Dubai). How often do we see Dubai competitors come back and do well? I suppose it's happened, and I don't need anyone to post the complete short list of those that have...but no, there's no upside, for us fans anyway, to going to Dubai.

Dubai seems to just take something out of a horse. My best thought was Captain Steve. I met him personally when he shipped in for the IA Derby (I believe) as he was in the barn next to us. Awesome looking animal cut and bright eyed. After Dubai he just never had that sparkle again.

hmmm.. that's an interesting note. I have not been around much so I just mentioned a "neutral" meeting point. Of course, that chances of those three (UMo, Factor, Frankel) meeting in one race are very slim, arent they?
