Verrazano's workout looked fine to me. He didn't seem to be urged nearing the finish line and looked like he could have passed his workmate easily.

When I was looking at the advanced KD pps from bris last week I noticed that Mylute had worked a bullet 1:12 2/5 at CD two weeks after the Louisiana Derby which I thought was interesting because of the hard stretch drive.
I read on Haskin's blog that he'd galloped out in 1:25 and pulled up in 1:39.
There are 12 works showing in his bris pp and no bullets. Could be figuring it out and peaking at the right time.
I have no knowledge of Amoss' training methods, whether he works them fast or slow, but this seems like a very impressive work.

Jill Byrne is one to watch for analysis she's very good at assessing appearance and performance in workouts. HRTV and Churchill Downs will be providing her commentary in days leading up to the derby.

if you are sitting in behind a screen in your living room, i would play closer attention to the works that aren't so good. so you can almost listen to anyone on those works. horses that don't work good usually run bad.
in a field of 20, you can get anywhere up to 12 horses that train great. you will have to be able to compare that work to prior works that the horse had to measure improvement. when you get the horses that have the improvements you now have to be able to take that to the next step. for the Kentucky Derby that step is almost impossible to do unless you know and trust either the trainer, or assistant trainer or a groom. during this week the security is high and no one is letting you stroll around the backside to look at a derby horse to see if he is doing well in his stall.

You can see the stretch part of it(last 30 seconds or so) on youtube or the kentucky derby website. He went 8f in 1:41 and 3/5 in company with Channel Isle thru 5.5f. The furlong fractions were 13.6, 26, 38.6, 51, 1:03.8, 1:16.8. 1:29.4, 1:41.6, and out in 1:56.2.

I really think the mile works are a sharp move.I don't know why we don't see it more often. That really set it off for me to bet Eight Belles under Big Brown.Big picture IMO is this gives them bottom end.

Gotta think the 7 weeks off before the derby for WTC contributes to this strategy.

Verrazano's work was deceptively good.
Who was the workmate?

Yes, IMO refusing to change leads, tossing the head and bearing out are usually automatic tosses unless they train that way normally.

Let me know your thoughts.
Revolutionary seemed to going much better on the rail with Borel.

Revolutionary was trained to come up the rail, but his changing of leads in the stretch was not professional at all.
