after all of that we aren't even sure Da Bears will build at Arlington

The Naperville Bears? What a waste.

Hysterical. They raised the taxes and ran them off.

More likely just a bargaining ploy. Kevin Warren got hired as CEO/President for a reason. He got the Vikings stadium built and by all accounts it's working out well for Minnesota. I suspect that the Bears will eventually play in Arlington Heights with the deal they want.

That said...RIP Arlington International Racecourse.

Says they already started demolishing so the track isn't coming back. Sad no matter if they eventually build on the site or not.

But what about Hawthorne? Why is it being "dissed" the way it is?

With its 1,320-foot stretch, its configuration closely resembles that of the Fair Grounds (1,346 feet).

Hawthorne could make two improvements though: Add a second, "short" stretch (990 feet from the finish line) on the turf (it actually had such a stretch until 1987), and a "first finish line" on the dirt (allowing 1-mile races to be run on the dirt).

And maybe they should consider switching to Tapeta?
