Rudolph apparently didn't learn his lesson from several years ago when he flippantly referred to Palm Sunday as a mobster holiday while on the air with Frank Lyons. Think that was during his first stint with TVG.

Really don't care if he stays or goes. For whatever reason he seems to think he's there to entertain rather than provide content relevant to the races they cover. Maybe that identifies with part of the FanDuel target market but it doesn't with me. He's more of an annoyance, just like Schrupp is to a certain degree.

I watch TVG a bit, mostly for the international racing nowadays, but after all of these years I can't remember the last time Ken Rudulph said anything I found interesting or relevant.

These days, everything is a brand, and if you are part of the brand, you better be on message 24 7. Regardless of the state of racing, the spirit of a "nothing matters cause it is all just performance art" message is not one that grows FanDuel's racing brand.

Churchill is serious about its Derby brand...and they have proven that nobody is too important that they can't be voted off of that island.

I won't be surprised if we start to see less industry-wide tolerance of certain issues (ridiculous form improvements, beard trainers, etc) that have been, if not completely tolerated previously, not investigated publicly to any great extent.

A lot of history here.....

I've watched TVG for many years now.
Ken Rudolph has been a presenter there for most of them.
He is a vibrant and talented TV professional.
Not exactly sure what to make of recent tweets.

When I think of Ken Rudolph, though, what comes to mind
most of all is the heinous, racist, attack against him by some owner
in CA over a decade ago. Funny joke to some, it was totally
uncalled for and inexcusable. Not sure what ever became of
the perpetrator. That guy deserved to spend time in jail.

That aside, Rudolph's worth as a racing presenter is minimal.
He rolled the dice in 2005 and came up with Giacomo
in the KY Derby paying boxcars. His reputation as a racing expert
has gotten more than enough mileage from his 2005 "Magic 8 ball" play.

Ever since then, it pains me to hear him touting time and again to a clueless viewing public targeted by his employers as the "wagering public of the future". Anyone with a brain and handicapping experience knows that it's snake oil promotion. "Sound like you know what you're talking about, and keep smiling".
I can hear TVG bosses charting his course over the years. Maybe I'm wrong?
My opinion is, Ken Rudolph is a talented TV presenter - just not in racing.

In the past month, cable TV (Dish) is a thing of the past in our household.
Consequently, I can't believe that we didn't drop it years ago.
I don't see TVG on TV anymore, and don't miss it at all.
Could watch it online, if I wanted to, but TwinSpires is good to me there.
RTN is always available, should I decide to, but I'm happy for now.

When you’re really a realist . Many people can’t stand you . They don’t want the truth pointed out . They don’t want to have to see it , hear it or touch it . Many peoples comfort zone is the crap they are told if it’s what they want to hear or to deny reality because it hurts too much .
That’s the secret sauce for the media . Decide who your audience will be then feed them the breadcrumbs (bs) that they long for. You then have a sucker /customer for life .
Correct. One of the lies of contemporary culure is you don't need the truth. whatever that is. And you don't need discrimination between truth or lies.

How do you spell Ken Rudolph?

M-U-T-E

Muzak between races is an improvement.

I would have thought in this day and age selective muting should be available. I think they are called color commentators, the motor mouths that can't stop talking, especially when watching football and baseball games.
I would like to mute them and just listen to the play by play announcer.
I think Tony Romo doesn't even pause to breathe.

Another reason to have RTN. If I had to watch TVG it would only be with the mute button.

Love Tony Romo.

Guy played at a very high level in the game and can talk the talk.

He isn't some amateur in the booth. Dude played, and can speak to every set and almost every play as to what they are doing before they actually do it.

Nobody said he wasn't very knowledgeable, he just talks too much.

I can't dispute his record.
Just don't like listening to him.

Jim McKay talked too much as well.

As did Howard Cosell.

Love 'em or hate 'em I guess.

Al Michaels is King, in my book.
I'd watch curling and checkers, if he was calling it.

I won't even watch a game Romo does.
I once had A NIGHTMARE where Tony nd Ken were together in the booth,
I woke up shaking! Then I cried.
