HISA Ruled Constitutional by Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals

This morning the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled HISA to be constitutional. Here's the ruling in full https://www.opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opi...3a0035p-06.pdf

Congress fixed the rather minor issue the 5th Circuit had flagged

Does that mean Sam Houston will finally be sending out their simulcast signal?

Probably not. They are covered by the current 5th circuit case which was sent back to the federal judge which first heard the case. Sam Houston and Lone Star are not sending their signal out of state because Texas did not sign an agreement with HISA yet.

The Texas simulcast embargo is now in its ninth month. How deep are the Texas Thoroughbred and Quarterhorse Association pockets that will allow racing to continue for another six months? Moreso, if the signal was restored today, how long would it take to rebuild that simulcasting handle?

In parallel, how is Fonner Park managing to keep their heads above water?

did anyone ever take Sam Houston or Lone Star racing that seriously anyway?

of course, it isn't that long ago that it didn't exist at all, it has hardly been missed with their random results out of thin air, kind of like Remington and Turfway at times, much as Turfway can be fun

what is in that OK/TX water anyway?

maybe they can cancel NM racing while they are at it, terrible racing product, likely somewhat inhumane given hard surfaces, not wagerable

Would like to be able to wager on Sam Houston again. Love their turf racing.

Those pockets are a little deeper than they were a few years ago with the ~$25 million a year the racing industry is now allocated from the sales tax on horse related items. 70% of that can go to purses.
