Harness Handicapping Angles

I have found that I do better betting harness races when I don't do comprehensive handicapping on a race, and instead rely on a couple of handicapping angles.

I don't get to bet a lot of races though, as I only have two angles right now that are producing winners.

(One involves betting horses coming off of a claim in one of their next couple of races.)

Does anybody have an angle they would be willing to share?

I'd like to bet a few more races a night and don't get many with what I've got now.

Adding Lasix when last race finish was On The Board is a good starting point for handicapping.
If other factors are OK . .it's Bet-Worthy!

Guys...

I haven't bet or followed the trotters for 40 years....

But when i did , the angle of a trainer claiming a horse for himself was a good bet..

Can anyone verify if this is still valid....???

lots of thorobread angles will cross over to harness . claiming angles change of driver meds change ect. there are lots an lots . best of luck capping

I respect your opinion a lot. Always check your P4 plays when I play Meadowlands.

Have you written anything on the subject of angles?

if so, are you willing to share any?

At the Big M, I used to play Kesmodel 1st start off the claim eight days after the claim.

Back in the day when the horse names were overrun with Lobell, Almahurst, and Hanover, I would pick (too young to bet back then) Del Insko, Merit Dokey, or the Filion brothers to try and beat Abbatiello.

I don't use a lot of angles for harness racing but some horses win and pay big prices second start off a sick scratch, and generally speaking, second or third start off a layoff are good angles if the horse has enough back class to compete in that field.

Probably the best angle is simple, better post than last race.

I also like dropping in class while shipping, at a price. Sometimes horses seem to perk up with a change of venue. You have to watch for subtle drops, like shipping in and moving into condition race after racing in a sire stakes. Sometimes the horse is just returning to its home track.

Playing Mohawk, one thing I'm having trouble with is shippers from the smaller tracks - Lon, Grvr, etc.
The purses are so much lower at those tracks, I don't know how they stack up.
Also, the times they run on the smaller tracks are so different.
Is there anything you use to consider if they will be competitive?

The way to see what to do with shippers is to make a list of tracks shipping in and write down the class they are entered and also enter thier last race condition (class)...then note if they won or placed) to get an idea of comparing levels.
