New track in Kentucky

Seems like another innovative move by CHDN.

New casino seems state of the art and should be able to handle the racing fans in winter months.

CDI to the rescue? Doesn't Cincy already have a ton of casinos?

Turfway owned by Hard Rock casino which I think is the 3rd casino owner then previously owned by Keeneland.

The dates are important to KY racing but Turfway facility is in decline and there doesn’t seem like much interest in improving.

Maybe CDI builds one, maybe the threat pushes action from someone else.

Well it's kind of like Aqueduct or Calder, right? The industry in Kentucky wants year-round racing, but whoever holds the unfavorable dates is going to be dealing with bad weather and lack of interest.

That's what we need given we already have a track in N. Ky.

More tracks is always better for horse racing.

But it isn't more tracks. The intent is to kick Turfway to the curb.

LOL not bloody likely for a Kentucky track to have turf racing in the middle of winter. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you did not read the article. If approved by the KHRC they would receive the dates Turfway now has which run from Dec to March.

The main track will be a one-mile synthetic race track with a inner dirt course.

My prediction on what will happen is Hard Rock sells the track back to CDI. Hard Rock does not want in the racing business and CDI only wants it for the historical racing casino. So look for that to come out sometime before the 1st of the year.
Scuttlebutt on the backside is that the reason Turfway does not have those machines is the area to locate them needs extensive remodeling and Hard Rock does not want to invest.
Say what you want about the instant racing machines, but they have improved the racing at every track here in KY.
