Some things never change. Back in the pre bet by cell phone days, if you didn't wager hours and hours ahead of time, good luck getting down on the Derby at TVG's website. You would think they would know by now horse betting on Derby day is akin to drinking alcohol on New Years Eve. Plenty of people indulging in things they normally don't do and it creates havoc.

Being the biggest day is exactly the reason! Their infrastructure can't handle the overload.

This happens so often to one or more of them on big racing days, imo you HAVE TO have multiple accounts to reduce the risk.

this thing occurs every year for every big racing day Derby Preakness Belmont stakes. In fairness I have been to plenty of belmont stakes and you need to know that if you are betting at the track you know to bet one race ahead or you will get shutout.

I made my bets at Keenelandselect.com...which runs on the TwinSpires interface...with about 15 minutes to post and had no problem at all. No delay at any time on either day.
What happened with TVG on Derby Day was/is something that also happened on Breeder's Cup days. It is why I stopped using them.

NJ needs to end TVG’s monopoly on horse betting in the state. If I could I would have withdrawn my money that night

Huh. I'd point out that with the economic decline on deck, this type of "outage" will become more common.
I'm also a little skeptical of the 10% decline in wagering on the Derby due to this "human error" outage. A lot of people don't have two nickels to rub together, as is evident from the recent spike in credit card balances. Discretionary spending is a shrinking pool of money, and entertainment industries like racing are affected early in the process.
Look out below.

As it got closer to the derby, their website got slower and slower. It took me several tries to make my derby bets, but thanks to God they all got through.
