The wealthy buy toys. Jerry Jones likes football and he fancies himself a young sportsman.
Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post because he fancies himself as a shaper of society mirroring east coast values.
Now Elon Musk wants to own social media as he fancies himself a defender of the first amendment.
Thinking of these people as investors who angle for profit is misguided. They think of these purchases as a way of self expression. Musk can probably find a way to make Twitter pay for itself, but that isn't what's driving this takeover.
I believe he thinks this maneuver will make him a hero in many peoples' eyes.
Certainly not the censors.

It's kind of a lose-lose situation for Musk.

If he is successful in buying twitter and taking it private, most of the "elite" will probably start bailing on twitter and there will be nobody left on there to make the platform relevant going forward. Plus a good chunk of twitter staff will likely resign in protest.

If he is unsuccessful the stock will likely tank and he'll likely lose money.

I don't even know why he is bothering. It's like he didn't think this through.

It's not like twitter is too big to fail. Myspace was a thing once too...

Maybe his ultimate plan is TO kill it...at any cost. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Don't sell this guy short, he is not the only one who can figure the strike price where he can make a buck. But is one of the few who has deep pockets to pull it off.

If Musk buys it, he will be able to reveal the Anti-free speech algorhyms they use, that's why the fuss. Musk acquiring Twitter would be a treasure akin to our getting Bin Laden's laptops.

Musk may be exposing a much deeper and disturbing secret.

The Conservative Tree House has posted a number of articles recently, including the following: https://theconservativetreehouse.com...c-coffee-shop/

Here is an excerpt:
(Bolded type by me)

****************
The only way Twitter, with 217 million users, could exist as a viable platform is if they had access to tech systems of incredible scale and performance, and those systems were essentially free or very cheap. The only entity that could possibly provide that level of capacity and scale is the United States Government – combined with a bottomless bank account. A public-private partnership.

If my hunch is correct, Elon Musk is poised to expose the well-kept secret that most social media platforms are operating on U.S. government tech infrastructure and indirect subsidy. Let that sink in.

The U.S. technology system, the assembled massive system of connected databases and server networks, is the operating infrastructure that offsets the cost of Twitter to run their own servers and database. The backbone of Twitter is the United States government.

****************

Turns out our friendly US Government has a significant interest in the direction of Free Speech (i.e. controlling the narratives) with regard to social medias, and you can expect them to "resist" any takeover efforts by Musk. They get an extra bonus with a means of data collection.

And here I thought it was the other way around...certain alphabet agencies using big tech servers etc...like the CIA with Amazon...it really doesn't matter which direction the relationship flows...there is a massive relationship...that should be no surprise

Don't count on it being revealed. If Elon is successful in his bid to take over Twitter. As soon as the it becomes irreversible. They will let loose the real poison pill that will meltdown the core... Twitter will go Beeeeeeep.
