Saturday's Leaders and Final Standings

On Wins
Beaucap........... $29.20 46%
JFGHarness......... $20.70 4%

On Exactas
JFGHarness........ $72.30 81%
tone3................. $52.90 32%
Morning Line........ $51.10 28%
willphorse............ $48.30 21%
Beaucap............. $43.20 8%

Contest(s) are over and the results are as follows:

In the "Pen & Micro-Chip" Challenge the robots bested the humans with
TrackMaster's Chatsworth at 16% ROI and Exacta 19% ROI, taking both individual honors.

The combined ROI%s show the "Micro-Chips" topped the "Pens" by...
...............Win.....Exacta
Overall Chips..+4%.....+8%
Overall Pens...-1%.....-8%

It's interesting to note how well the Pen & Micro-Chip contestants did even though they were required to make picks in all races, something serious 'cappers would not do.

In the Side Contest, Mirror Image is the official Winner by a Win ROI 14% and gets his choice of 1st place prize, The Books* or $100 cash.

tone3 finishes 1st in the Exacta Division with a ROI 32% and will receive the prize not chosen by mirror.

Beaucap gets the consolation prize, the book, Professional Blackjack for fun and profit...

Thanks to all who participated..it was a lot of fun even if my poor robot had an AI breakdown playing 2 year olds with no past performance lines...

Thanks to all...

Both live and export handle was up slightly over the 2009 numbers, significant in this climate to be sure. Link to release here:

http://www.theharnessedge.com/story....ew&Story=42794

Many thanks to all PAers, nod to those who took the time to participate in the contest...particularly the guys (2 live & 2 bots) that handicapped every card and posted their picks each day...and congrats to them on sharp opinions on a track with plenty of moving targets (shippers RTD, I mean shippers). The Trackmaster bot had a remarkable 16% ROI, nice work!

Thanks to Dean for conceiving the game and Ray for his diligence in compiling the stats and making those available in a timely fashion every race day.

Just curious

To the Tioga Team:

Was wondering if the reduction in rentention rates created enough of an increase in wagering to offset the loss of revenue?

I expect that to be the basis of any continuation of this process.

If not for the contest last year I would have not got interested
in Tioga and never started betting it. Had a good time and hope
they have it again.

2011 v 2010

Racing will not be the same this year as last. Seems Pompano Park and the horsemen got a contract signed and will race this summer in South Fla. They closed in early May last season thus neccessitating some stable to move north for the summer racing. TgD benefited from their participation. Although I love Pompano Park racing, those horsemen did add to Tioga's product last year. Really do not know if I will be betting much up there without those stables there this year. At least I got PPk.

Post time is just a suggestion

Last year Tioga's post time was slow in getting to the gate but at least they made it to the gate within a minute of posted time. Not so this year as they are now following the lead of Northfield and Meadows who both think Minutes To Post is just another oxymoron like Meadows Management. Tioga's first race horses did not arrive on the track until 0 minutes to post. What I like about Woodbine is that when it reaches 0 minutes to post a one minute countdown clock starts and when it reaches 00, the starting gate is moving to start the race. I will not bet any track that cannot organize racing in a timely manner. If they can not start a race on time, what other things are they not doing like drug testing the drivers and horses? The Meadows, Tioga Downs and Northfield and any other non-post time tracks are being boycotted. There are enough upstanding tracks that go off on time that will take my money.

I just watched the 5th race from Tioga Downs on live video this Sat. evening May 7/11. The announcer sure sounded like the inimitable Roger Huston. I thought Roger was doing the announcing at The Meadows.
