Breeders' Cup Turf Pick 4 Confusion
I finally hit my first race in 17 years and received $90 more than I thought, (loser's bonus) and for the life of me, cannot figure out how.
I was live in the BC Turf Pick 4 going into the No Balls race. I had singled Inspiral in the opening TURF P4 leg and went 2x2x4 in the other turf races on Saturday.
In the No Balls race I was alive to: #1, Big Invasion, #7, No Balls, #9 Roses for Deborah and #10, Meritorious.
XpressBet, which I had used for this wager, was NOT showing the P4 Probables so a friend sent me them via NYRA Bets and to double check, also Twin Spires, which were the same as NYRA Bets.
I received $600.10 v the $510 I expected. See NYRA Probables/Payoff attachments.
HOW did I get $600? Probables showed only $510.65???????
Did they “Round Up?”
Thanks,
Vince P

There were probably live tickets to horses who were eventually scratched & they calculated will-pays as if each horse was the potential post-time favorite.

You probably signed up for the hit and split promotion and since you hit it that extra money was yours.
I once signed up for a pick 4 hit and split somewhere, didn’t play the p4 but did hit the last 4 and got the bonus anyway.

Thanks Omar and SG4.
Obviously this question of mine is no crisis, but I am still very puzzled over the Payoff v the probables.

Omar,
The Turf P4 wasn't one of those Hit and Split thingys. Also the extra bonus I received was approximately 17%. ($600.10 - actually payout v $510.65 for the listed probable for NoBalls) Usually those bonuses are only 10%, I think.
SG4,
Thanks. Most likely, there WERE tickets to the late scratched horses, inc co-favorite Bradsell, 5-1 and One Timer.
But wouldn't that make the listed probables even less than posted?
Here were the Pre-race Posted Probables listed by both NYRA BETS and
by Twin Spires:
1. Big Invasion, $518.90
2. Bradsell .........(scratched)
3. Caravel $291.80
4. Tony Ann $1,441.85
5. Live In The Dream $206.25
6. Gear Jockey $15.7.70
7. Nobals $510.65
8. Aesop's Fables $524.40
9. Roses for Derba $399.55
10. Motorious $218.70
11. Jasper Krone $394.40
12. Arzak $610.35
13. One Timer.....(scratched)
14. Beer Can Man $944.20
Actual Payoff:
$.50 Pick 4 (TURFPICK4(6-14-4/5/6-7)) (4 Correct) Paid: $600.10 Pick 4 Pool $652,214.00
