Saratoga ninth race... I need an opinion

Today I bet Stars Above Me in the ninth, almost all the way to the far
turn Ortiz looked like he was checking the horse up. I can understand
checking a rambunctious horse in a distance race so he does not use himself
up but this was a pedal to the metal five and a half furlong race. I have
watched the replay three times to verify in my mind what I saw. If
anyone has replay available to them I would appreciate your opinion about
this ride.

I bet that runner also and she looked rank and unmanageable for much of the race, esp down the backstretch.
Had her head high and refused to settle - cost her everything.

No, the horse was not rank. She just realized she was faster than these and that she was in a race. Unfortunately, the jockey did not realize that.
