But I do know thoroughbred horse racing taint goin anywhere McGee.
It may be here but in what form? 6 horse field made up of 40% caw money at three or 4 race tracks in the country all charging over 20% takeout in just about every pool. That is the future the status quo will bring us. If that works for you, enjoy it, I will take a pass when that becomes reality. It looks like Santa Anita is almost there.

Twenty years from now, the four Kentucky tracks, Saratoga/Belmont, and Oaklawn will still be around. Del Mar, Tampa, Gulfstream...probably. The PA tracks go the minute the casino funds get cut by the state legislature. Things here in Jersey...well, the Meadowlands will be one of the last harness tracks to go, and sports betting is boosting Monmouth for now. Past that? Hmmmm...

If you’re heading to Sam Houston today, good luck.

Finally went out to SHRP on Sunday morning about 11a

Cashed my Derby tickets and walked around a bit.

It was early but there were lots of really grumpy old guys already there bitching about customer service being shitty at the teller windows.

There were only 5 teller windows open. I think Gulfstream and Tampa were the only tracks running that early. I was pleasantly surprised at the crowd.

Btw, I noted immediately that they seemed to have spruced up the place some with new paint etc in most places. A coat of paint can go a long way.

They also have installed new very nice betting machines that are basically giant tablets with very nice touch screens.

I couldn’t stay, lots going on at work, but I was treated very well by the staff in the mutuel department and the 100 yr old lady teller who about fell on the floor when I tipped her $20

I might find my way going back for one of the big days coming up in the triple crown.

Next big day looks to be Texas champions day on the 23rd. That’s unless camel races are your thing, they are this Fri & Sat.
