Happy Mardi Gras

All my friends & family are already out there on St. Charles Ave awaiting the krewes of Zulu and Rex (and ducking bullets!).
Me? No parades or festivities this year - still recovering from surgery.

That means I have some peace and quiet to handicap the card at Fair Grounds today. Second half of the card has some nice races, including the Mardi Gras Stakes. Going to go and spend a few hours out there (in that much calmer environment) later this afternoon.
My friend has one running in the 5th today (Populist). In against a tough group, but if he wins I just may make my way into the winners circle.
Look for me - I'm bald guy

Happy Mardi Gras y'all

Lousy day at the track, but I did come across this sign
Too bad Cox couldn't win the feature today

Nothing like the madness of New Orleans

Side note about my friend's horse who ran in R5 yesterday. All six runners were claimed. I was wondering why they all returned to the paddock after the race, rather than heading to the barns. I don't recall seeing a race where every runner was claimed.
His horse, Populist, ran 3rd. They bought him for 5k, he ran 2nd & 3rd, and was claimed for 10k....then they immediately purchased one privately named Creme de Bali

Hope he gets them in the winners circle

Was there yesterday myself, it was an odd feeling in the paddock after that race. Four horses were brought into the paddock and it took a while to get everything straightened out. It was a nice day to be at the track with how the weather cooperated.

I much prefer Church Point and Mamou to the crazy New Orleans parades. Too many people and traffic is horrible afterwards.

There is a difference between a Muffaletta and a lot of muffa
