I don't know about that. Early in his career, Maddux sported a fastball in the low 90s...along with great ball movement and control. Kyle Hendricks got a chance in the Bigs with a fastball that tops out at 88.

Forcing a speed limit is an interesting idea, but unfortunately impractical. It seems that speed guns are -- consistently inconsistent -- with the same pitcher

I have enough concerns with the accuracy of that little superimposed rectangle that we assume is the strike zone. I have seen overhead camera shots differ with that rectangle. Is the overhead shot out of position or is the rectangle misplaced? Then you see the knee-high camera angle that frequently does not jibe with what you saw from the camera from centerfield. (and why is the centerfield camera always on the left field side?)
