Think this happened before, down in New Mexico. Complete lack of respect, needs to be looked into and some strong punishment handed out.

This entire industry is standing in the middle of 10 square miles of rakes ala Sideshow Bob.

If Bridget Moloney is the horse in question the last known connections are according to Equibase.
Trainer: L. Craig Cox
Owner: Vickie L. Stewart

There’s a part of me somehow tempted to think Mountaineer tipped off PETA themselves so that there could be outrage in order that they could be “forced” to close the racetrack.

Mountaineer is a track at the bottom and sadly those trainers have no other options at times......you'd think theres a better way.....
I just fear this horse was dumped there alive....

If this was a trainers only option they should be out of the business.
And if Mountaineer tipped this off so they can close down I'd be fine with that. One of my favorite horses ended up down there and disappeared. This is disgusting.

Twitter has many tweets about calling MNR and the WVA state racing comm. for answers and to complain. some are stating stop betting MNR!

I can't find the statement that Racing has released to respond to the issue.

Unreal. Someone needs to do hard time in prison.
The track should be closed until a thorough investigation is conducted.
This is disgusting.
Federal regulation is needed.
We cannot trust the people who run the game to do it right.
Nor should we.

I have a small percentage of a mare that won a race at Mountaineer last night. Although I have very little say in where she races, I've asked one of the other owners to get her out of Mountaineer.
This is awful.

What do you guys think other tracks do with dead racehorses?
As undignified as this is, it's not like they go around holding funerals and buying headstones....(unless you were REALLY good).
NYRA has a "pit" at each track, don't they? What happens to the carcass after it is thrown in the pit? Hauled away by who/what?
How much less awful could it be then the picture in the OP? Probably not much.
