The reason you see the margin of neck for #1 in the top portion of the chart is that two noses equal a neck. #4 won by a nose over #1 and #1 was a nose in front of the #8 so the margin #8 was behind the winner as a neck.

Even I get this wrong sometimes and I did in this case.
A nose and a neck is still a neck. That is why the margin of defeat for Madam Stripes #8 is a neck.
