Yes, and steak was $1.29 in the grocery store.
($2.49 for filet mignon.)
Yes, WE are old.
Gas $0.04 per gallon.
(During a gas war when the normal price was $0.22).
Oops.
Thread drift.

Brings back memories. I remember back taking care of the yard work at 8 years old. My father giving me 25 cents to get a gallon of gas for the lawn mower and walking to the gas station about a mile and a half away. Having the pump jockey (that is what we called them) give me 17 cents of gas and getting a 8 cent candy bar. I thought I was working it good back then. That candy bar made it all worth while. When I was growing up candy was something very rare. Also a McDonalds cheeseburger was around 20 cents back around then. If all of us kids did are chores all month, no trouble or back talking. We would get to go to McDonalds and have a meal. I remember the meal for a cheeseburger, fries and coke was around 30 cents. Great memories of such a simple and loving life back then. That philosophy did not work with my 4 children. LOL

And you did not burn down the McDonalds due to such inhumane treatment WOW I am surprised. Stop over and I will buy you a Big Mac meal deal for
reparations...

Rah-rah rumble seats and runnin' boards...
Them was the good old days.
I grew up in South Florida in the '50s-'60s.
We used to go to Royal Castle (not white Castle).
$0.15 hamburgers (postage stamp)
$0.05 birch beer.
Those prices held until - maybe 1965-66 or so?
