You basically said you find nothing unappealing about seeing this person's private parts. So "to each his own" isn't good enough anymore? We have to find transgenders just as sexually appealing as we would the female or male who we'd normally find appealing?

The problem with your analogy is the reader finds out the truth and feels betrayed by the magazine. What they thought they were seeing (a beautiful woman) had been physically altered and in fact was born a male.
Hard headed liberals like yourself, Dan, constantly try and create reason for issues that just don't make a lot of sense. Call it as you like, whatever it may be, however unnatural it may be, but at the end of the day, it is what it is.
What's amazing is that those like yourself never seem to get it.

Okay, so I see that picture on the cover and say, "She's pretty." Then my friend says, "She's transgender."
This is the point where I can either laugh and say "Good job!", or I can feel "betrayed" and get all pissy about it.
The reaction says more about me or you than the picture.

He is anorexic thin through the arms, and the face is just ok. Something looks a little odd about it, though "male" wouldn't come to mind.
So I guess the answer is no, not particularly.

I think this is a desperate attempt to become relevant. I glanced at the Playboy Philosophy, written in 1962 and it's not a particularly good fit for today world. As MutuelClerk has pointed out there is no way for them to compete with Internet porn. Their sales seem to be way down & at least this has people talking about them again for a few days. Here is a chart of how they've been doing.
