Horse Racing Commissioner

On our show this week, we put out the question of who do you think would make a great commissioner for horse racing. Who would you pick?

He’s up there in age and probably not interested in the job, but I’ve always thought very highly of Steve Crist, and think he would be an excellent choice.

Top 5 not in order

John Velazquez- has bagged a lot of $ and would be a great person for commissioner for all his success in the business

Todd Pletcher- Smart and dominant! Another great person to be in the role for knowing the ins and outs of his job as a trainer

Angel Cordero Jr- One of the best jockeys we have seen but age is a factor so they would have to hire someone else if he were to be sick/died

D Wayne Lukas- Very successful trainer in his career but age is a factor here just like Angel they would need a backup person

Chad Brown- Top turf trainer in North America and would be a good candidate for the commish

i am going to go with Mark Paterson because he knows the game from the horsemen's and track's perspective's by working in the racing office for so long, and also knows the game quite well because he handicaps racing on a daily basis and is in tough with the bettors and fans of the sport.

i couldn't think of a more perfect guy for the job, and i would offer him at least $3 million a year to work, that's if of course he would accept an offer like that for such a difficult position.

So many to choose from in the sea of talent carousing this board on pretty much a daily basis. Hard to choose just one. Perhaps a tag team of the obvious selections.

No reason to even list them....their talents and qualifications are obvious to all.

If you are going to say Jerry Brown then someone would have to argue for including other people like Jerry such as Andy Beyer(DRF) or CJ (Timeform US)or Davidson/Haddad (The Sheets)

Mick Peterson might be good, certainly has expertise in the whole optimal track part of the mandate.
