Adobe Flash

December 31st is the last day Adobe Flash will function. Is there anything that we as computer users need to do or will the transition be seamless?

I have a desktop still using Vista and I like it. Does this mean without Adobe Flash I won't have access to YouTube?
Norton will be ending support with updates for Vista users soon also. Are there any other services that will?

First of all you're really taking your chances using an OS that hasn't been supported since 2018 and has no security patch updates anymore. Hope you are not keeping any important/personal stuff on there.

That said, what browser are you using with your Vista?

The last Vista laptop I had would begin to heat up and slow down performance after an hour or so.

The latest Windows 8 and 10 models can run for hours without overheating issues, great improvements to an internet session.

Marshall, if I were running Vista I would use a nice lightweight browser like Opera. It does not consume a lot of resources.

And you should not have problems using it with YouTube.

I don't know anything about specs of your actual PC to advise you further.

Is Flash going away "completely" or it just won't be supported anymore?

There are still a lot of applications that use it even if they are slowly moving away from it.

If you are using a supported version of Windows, it is going away in Edge and IE...You will actually not be able to enable Flash at all.

I don't know a whole lot about games, legacy PCs, and machines using older browsers, etc.

I sure wouldn't want to be trying to watch You Tube on a machine w/weak CPU and low RAM....I don't know how people do it. I played around with that in Task Mgr. once day on an old laptop and the CPU and physical memory was consuming a whole lot of resources trying to use HTML-5.

I'm using older versions of Chrome and Firefox as I'm unable to load any newer versions having Vista as my OS. I don't use my pc with any bank accounts, purchases with credit cards, or anything else that would matter if hacked. I do watch youtube videos and visit sites I think are secure. I keep my Norton updated daily, however next year that won't be supportive.
Thanks guys!!
