Nuggets in Finals 1st time ever

.

it will be the Denver Nuggets first appearance ever in the Finals
they were founded in 1967 as the Denver Larks in the ABA but changed their name to the Rockets before the 1st season
the Rockets then changed their name to the Nuggets in 1974
the Nuggets played for the final ABA Championship in 1976 losing to the New York Nets
they joined the NBA in 1976 along with 3 other teams from the ABA

1st time in the NBA Finals in 47 years - wow
.

Nikolai Jokic is so atypical of an NBA superstar (not referring to his color)
he seems to move around very slowly but it doesn't seem to hinder him
he's not all that tall for a Center - 6'11" - but he's very bulky, 284 lbs., and his bulk helps him quite a bit
he seems to make close to zero mistakes and plays a very smart game
he got very close to a triple double this past season - just missed it by only getting 9.8 assists per game

Jokic's 'spatial awareness' in his brain, is doing free throw-line-dunks and cool urban stylings.
His physical talent may be more functional than posterizing, but he's playing chess (and more importantly, valuable basketball).

Picture Jokic, bottom of the screen perimeter, has a smaller defender switched out guarding him, with the rival center looming as potential 'help' to defend the basket.

Picture this; Jokic sees this bouncing the ball, 2 'shoulder bumps' and he's closer to the basket now, and has manipulated the rival center to help as Jokic slowly unfolds a shot expression which is dedicated to engaging the rival center, his 'shot' goes up, the center extends in vain, and the off-ball forward steps in to catch the monk-in-the-middle alley-oop dunk.

his teammates appreciate those true assists, and themselves enjoy the role they play in his jokic's best team plays. A couple of the guys even 'buy in' and try to make a few similar plays of their own.

Betting Money

nobody wanted to talk about 'spatial awareness'

ok new Nuggets Finals take

does anyone believe that the NBA sometimes 'milks' it's finals?

If you did, one of the early games such as Game 2? could be a betting opportunity...

as great as the Nuggets are - they still had a losing record on the road in the regular season - they were 19-22
they were a fantastic 34-7 at home - 83% wins - awesome
not saying that they will lose to the Heat in Miami
but this kind of difference - but maybe not usually that extreme - occurs fairly often in the NBA and also in college ball
another example is the Grizzlies 35-6 at home and 16-25 away
85% wins at home - awesome

last season Mississippi Sate was 14-3 at home and 1-10 on the road
LSU was 15-2 at home and 2-8 on the road

there are lots of other examples

the Nuggest are 9-0 at home in the post season

the linked article and many others claim that their great success at home is partly due to the high elevation of the city - one mile above sea level

the theory is that part of their large home advantage comes from being used to the thin air - and their opponents have trouble with it

their all time home winning % is .652 and they are only .350 on the road

the .302 difference between home and away is the largest for any active NBA franchise

Jokic is the new age Larry Bird.

While his 'physical skills' seem little, they are actually quite great.

Bird was 6'9" with long arms and shot the ball up high and in a similar motion as Jokic where it is nearly unblockable. However, both are very adept shooters, and can shoot from many angles and positions as they aren't 'jump' shooters.

Bird and Jokic are also skilled in the trade of passing and recognizing plays before they happen. They both make everyone around them better with their supreme court awareness. Many of Bird's plays of his legend are of his great passes and ability to see and make things happen for those around him. Jokic is going down that same road.

Both also have the ability to 'slow' the game down and make it easier for them to play while making it harder for everybody else to guard them. Helps when you are a great shooter and scorer and can shoot at anytime from virtually any angle.

Of course the NBA wants every series to go 7. The only way they could attempt to fix a game is through the officiating and I doubt they would be dumb enough to try to do that.

Officiating is a big part. Certain coaches and players and league owners are also 'malleable'.

The game is subtle and using significant things. It's a long game, and no one game's outcome in itself matters much. Meaning a team can stink too bad to win or play too good to lose, or the opposites where a team can play so well to not need help or play so poorly to not need to be handicapped.

multi-billion dollar league interests
multi-billion dollar black market interests

some of the owners and the real insiders who aren't 'named owners' who own the league are 'players' (not basketball playas, i mean 'PLAYERS' players) and not just lazy wealthy guys who are satisfied with a profit and to let things fall where they may.

w/out spending an hour analyzing film, the box score shows no red flags.
&
Miami shot 17/35 from 3! 49% from 3 with a high volume of attempts!!

they didn't need or get any help, and it's amazing that the total wasn't MORE than 111-108.

There's no evidence that there was intent to fix game 2(just apprehension), and there's no evidence that a fix occurred.

I was very surprised the Heat got the W in Denver
I didn't think they had much chance of winning the series
my opinion has changed

.

Bam Adebayo came up big with 21 points and 9 bounds in game 2
he can't stop Jokic - but Jokic had only 4 assists - his lowest total of the postseason
one article I read gave Bam credit for that
Draftkings made the Nugs 2.5 faves for today's game

Game 3

Jokic: first 30 point, 20 rebound, 10 assist game in Finals history

he finished with 32, 21 and 10 as Denver got the W

wow

.

Jamal Murray had 34 points, 10 bounds and 10 assists - the only time 2 teammates have ever had a triple double with both having 30 points in same game - regular season or playoffs

Jamal has had more than 30 in 8 of the Nugs postseason games - of course, he's been overshadowed by the great Jokic
