Karl Broberg

Trainer Broberg consistently wins with a high percentage of
his horses.

However, he is only 1 win for 41 starts at
Evangeline this meet. Does anyone know why?

Is Broberg at Evangeline or is there an assistant handling his horses there?

1/41 is usually underperforming no matter who it is and their baseline .

In general it's possible that it isn't as bad or unexpected as it would seem.

EVG meet follows Fairgrounds which is a larger purse meet. So, a successful FG could mean a weaker EVG, for example because of advancing through conditions at FG.

In addition to Fairgrounds, Broberg also had >100 entries at high purse Oaklawn (as well as several other smaller tracks closer to EVG, that he has strings in).

He's a fairly high-volume trainer now, and in spite of the well deserved supertrainer label, he's under the radar at tracks like FG and Oak in terms of win% compared to some of the other even more potent trainers.

this is just meant to be helpful assuming the question is genuine and curious.

There are associated stats that are also peculiar. I am not trying to insinuate anything other than the stats are not what one would normally expect.

Broberg had one entry at EVD today. His jockey, T G Thornton, has a record with Broberg at the meet of 33 0 4 3 and in the last 14 days he is 10 0 2 1 with Broberg. Thornton's overall record at the meet is 96 18 9 11, 18.75%. That means that for other trainers at the meet, Thornton is 63 18 5 8, a whopping 28.6% win percentage.

Certainly some unusual stats.

I am trying to figure out a source of integrity on violations to correlate to percentages and the presence of a stronger regulatory framework or the mere presence of one such as HISA. Similar to a corporate internal audit function the mere presence of 'policing' creates behavior changes in big companies.

Was at EVD last night and brought up the subject with another trainer there and he said it couldn't be happening to a nicer fellow. He's not the most popular person on the backside, what with him claiming other's horses and instantly improving by leaps and bounds in the past.

Has 1 entry tonight in race 4, ML of 10/1. Isn't this when you are supposed to start betting him?
