A minor miracle on ice

A 36 year old CPA and amateur league player was put in goal by the Chicago Blackhawks after their only remaining regular goalie was injured. He came in with 14 minutes left in the game and held Winnipeg scoreless.

And next week he's back in the nets in the beer-league game. His buddies will give him a lot of grief, but he won't have to buy the beers for a while.

Great story. I'm pretty sure the home team has to supply an emergency goalie every game. He could play for either team depending on circumstances. He did a great job and handled the press afterwards perfectly. Really well done!!!

This was a really great story.

I think of my time playing amateur baseball. Cannot imagine how it would have felt to be "called up" to sit on the bench, let alone play.

And the interview was really excellent. He was so respectful. As he said, both he and his kids will remember this day forever.
