Reds Magic Number down to 8

Bronson Arroyo gets his 16th win.......

From Cincy Enquirer:

“Hitting is contagious, and it was nice to see us getting production from the bottom of the lineup too,” Baker said. “That was a big game for us, especially since the Cardinals lost.”

The Reds pushed their Central lead to seven games, as St. Louis lost 8-4 to San Diego on Saturday.

The Reds’ magic number for clinching the division is now eight, meaning any combination of Cincinnati wins and St. Louis losses.

In a 5-3 Reds loss Friday, Baker watched his club smack several hard-hit baseballs that were caught. Afterward, Baker said the Reds were going to break out of it “soon.”

Saturday, a crowd of 29,855 fans watched what was actually a come-from-behind Reds win.

Houston took a 1-0 lead on a homer by Carlos Lee in the second inning, but that would be it for the hosts.

Would love nothing more than to see Reds and Rangers in a world series . What were the odds of that at the beginning of the season ?

There is MVP talk.......but I doubt it. I wish Josh Hamilton was still there. Can you imagine if they would have had both of them?

Joey V had a Sinus Infection. 5 days of intense sickness from what I read somewhere. Can't believe how he can come back so well.........

Can't wait to hear they have clinched

Interesting how St. Louis was a great franchise but once Walt Jocketty was shown the door, things have trended downward. So Jocketty ends up in Cincy and right now they appear to be light years ahead of the rest of the field in the NL Central.

Yo Ralphie !!!!

We gotta get just a few more hits than we got tonite

The Phils may have the 3 best starters in the NL but we have the 3 with the best first names:
Eldison
Bronson
Homer

I don't know if it was Dusty's idea but it seemed like the majority of Reds went up to the plate "taking" a strike. Maybe a good idea against a pitcher with shaky control but a terrible idea against a guy like Halladay. You already had a notorious pitcher umpire (Hirshbeck). Only saw the last 2 innings but when he called a strike on Stubbs in the 8th on a pitch almost in the dirt, it was apparent Hirshbeck wanted to be a part of history too.

Doc gets quicker too, the better he's moving along. You BETTER be hacking, because you're going to be in an 0-2 hole inside of a minute!

I'm done watching this debacle.

If I wanted to see clowns I would have gone to the circus.
