Not aiming to redboard, but very happy about a superfecta hit!

This so rarely happens for me, so I am making a post about it.

I nailed the fifth at MNR tonight.

Favorite in first.

7-1 Shot in second

57-1 Shot in third

28-1 Shot in fourth

Played it for a dollar ($147 in total, with my combinations), got....

$2,201.40 back.

This marks the largest single score in my short time playing horses seriously (I am 23, have been playing at NYC OTB's casually since I was 15).

congrats!
very nice score.
did you plan to key the favorite with the longshots?

i didn't wager money today. Spent about 90 minutes on pen&paper wagering races 7-10 pick4 for belmont. Breeders cup day draws near.

I planned on keying the favorite with a few horses at longer odds only because there were two first time starter's who in my mind, should always be bet against in a 3yo race, particularly when they are in for a tag.

It was the third signer of my life, the other two were barely even above 300-1 odds (between $600-$750).

Did all of the 147 combinations you played have the favorite on top?

Yes. I didn't spread the risk, to say the least.

Congrats , and imagine what that combo would pay in a huge pool. Five figures, definitely.

Keep this in mind come BC day. Remember the Kentucky Derby superfecta ? Chalk/chalk/chalk/26-to-1 paid $14,000 ( ), I .... THINK.

Hello hbeck:

Do you usually go that deep into a super and was also wondering if you were ahead at the time you made that wager? What was your starting bankroll for the day or night? When you went to bed last night did you fall right out or were you thinking about what to do with your winnings? When you woke up this morning did you have a deep desire to do some handicapping?

Nice hit,
Joe

Thanks to all who posted congratulatory responses.

As for starting at 15, who here would be able to resist having an OTB two blocks from your high school?

Jotb,

I was down for the weekend prior to this superfecta. I only play MNR , TAM, LAD and Australian (I spent a semester in New Zealand and have a good grasp of aussie racing) superfectas in fields of 9 or more. My average ticket usually hovers between 125 and 200 dollars. Needless to say, with my straight out of college job, I don't bet the super too often. I mostly stick to win/place.

And yes, I withdrew $2000 to my bank account immediately and went to sleep with no problems.

I started playing @ 14 in NY. They have a height- not an age-requirement. Tall enough to reach the window, tall enough to bet!

WTG! I thought I hit it. I had the 6 at 40-1 in 4th spot.

I did back it up with the tri.

Very nice job....hope you keep gettin em! By age 14 I was already hard core. I rode my bike 3 miles to get the form because by dad didn't get home until later and I didn't want to wait. Used to hitch hike from school to the track for the last race (they let you in free). I wore a painter's hat and dark glasses because you had to be 21 to get in. Fortunately was big for my age. Got popped a few times but it was my own fault. The cops always called home very indignantly but Dad always laughed about it. Said he was running moonshine when he was that age. Priceless memories.
