Its obvious that HS has faced the best 3yo's in the country so he does have a class edge here.

The pace of the race looks like (in PP order)

EZ WARRIOR, SPIN MASTER, and BOLD START show the best pace figs sprinting
within a 1/2f of todays race on a fast track and neother seems liek much of a real threat to steal away here.

Within a 1/2f of todays 7f distance, the horses with the best speed figs llok like (in PP order),

TUEFLESBURG, MOST DISTINGUISHED, FIRST DEFENCE, and KING OF THE ROXY.

HARD SPUN shows a pace fig going long in his last race that is within 2 lengths of the sprinters speed figs in their recent races as well as a speed fig going long that is just as good as the sprinters speed figure; at 7f, this is a positive.

LONGLEY ran decently going long but not as well as HARD SPUN and his pace figures going long aren't as good as HARD SPUNS either.

At first glance, using pace and speed figs, the field can be narrowed down to
(in PP order)

HARD SPUN, TUEFLESBURG, MOST DISTINGUISHED, FIRST DEFENCE, and KING OF THE ROXY. A field of 11 has now become a field of 5. I guess this represents a good example of "why using speed figures at all", is worth it.

John

PS Picking apart these 5 aught to be a good exercise.
