In the event of ALL/ALL then the exacta is paid out to the highest finisher listed in that particular Future wager. Example: Moyamen finishes third to two horses not listed in Future 2. In this case the exacta is paid out to those who played 24/15 even though the true finish was 24/24/15. The house does not keep the money. Your logic is precisely why I do enjoy the future wager. Your horse can suck on Derby day yet you still have a chance to get paid. This is most likely to occur in the early Future wagers. In 2014 you could have boxed Ride On Curlin in Future 1 with ALL OTHERS (California Chrome) and got paid 100-1 in spite of ROC finishing 7th. That year it was all/all/all/all/all/all/ROC. Cha-ching for those who played that one.

I think Sammy is saying one of these years all the horses in one of the pools will not make the gate. there are already 13 new horses in pool #2. It would take a few of the big guns to have problems this year but it could happen some time in the future.
