When guilt or innocence is a matter of life or death

Good article that highlights the imperfections of the death penalty:

There is one question I ask death penalty opponents. What do you do with the people continue to kill after they have been locked up? I yet to get a good answer to that question.

This is always a good discussion.

I'm personally against the death penalty and the way it's used now but I wouldn't have a problem with a 3 strikes and you are out use for violent crimes.

Why I am opposed.

Damon Thibodeaux, 38, was the 300th prisoner nationwide to see his conviction overturned based on DNA evidence, according to lawyers who represented him from the New York-based Innocence Project. He was the 18th death row prisoner freed based on such evidence.

Kirk Bloodsworth was a Baltimore County resident who I posted about in the past. His story made me rethink my position, as you can see from the above post.

Now that we have DNA, I think ALL death penalty cases should be reviewed.
No excuse not to.

Of course, not at the expense of the prisoners - this is one area I can say use my tax dollars.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could pick and choose where our specific tax dollars could be used?

WHY didn't the defense and/or the prosecution use DNA at the trial?

But, I also agree with another poster here that DNA should be used in all cases of death penalty......With todays technology, it shouldnt be a problem.
