The Brisnet LP angle

This is similar logic to the final 3/8th fraction where in theory you need to be running well late at 9F to cross the line first or second at 10F. Only one Derby winner in the last 21 years had a final prep LP of less than 95 and that was one of biggest bombers in history. Only three horses hit the bottom of exacta with an LP of less than 93. There are typically about 10 horses in the Derby with a last out LP 95 and 10-12 with a last out 93+. The 95+ horses comprise about half the starters and 95% of the winners. The 95+ LP metric also completed 67% of the exactas from the the last 21 renewals. Using 93+ gets one 80% of all the exactas.

A review of the Pool 5 Brisnet sheet suggests fewer Brisnet LP 95+ horses this year than usual. We basically have ourselves a bunch of stretch running slugs this year. Could very well see another merry go round, but, perhaps the door is more open this year than usual for a bomber.

2021 (?)
Essential Quality - ? - 101 in SW, BG likely similar or better
Highly Motivated - ? - 95 in Gotham, BG perhaps around 100.
Known Agenda - ? Likely over 100
Soup and Sandwich - ? Probably in the mid 90s.
Rock Your World - ? I'm guessing low 90s.
The Wood and Ark were slow therefore no qualifiers expected.

Thanks for those. I couldn't find them when I looked earlier. Looks like I grossly underestimated the Wood. Seems like there's more variance between the figure makers on the Derby trail this year.

No problem and thanks for the angle. If you want any others just let me know. I don’t have the Arkansas derby but I have these as well from the Wood:

Crowded Trade 98 (7 wide)
Dynamic One. 96
Weyburn. (Couldn’t locate this one)

Another interesting one I found was:

Rombauer. 98 (underneath maybe) (bumped hard start, in tight)

How do you get those numbers? I asked Bris about speed ratings and they said those are released the next time a horse runs

It’s just a subscription from a handicapping site. They have almost all the triple crown nominated horses

What site do you use?

Every year I anxiously await Brisnet to release their Derby PPs.

Sainthood looked like was closing faster than like the King after the other horse drifted in his path then had to wait for Like the King before he got loose.

What Kind of number did King Fury get in the Lexington?

O Besos 96 in LA Derby looks like he is in ....Although the rule technically applies to 9f races so kinda have to take O Besos and HRC with grain of salt on this angle.

He's the lone S type in the race. Trainer and pilot don't scream G1 placing but if you're looking for a Golden Soul or Commanding Curve type out of Louisiana to clunk up then he fits the bill. I don't expect to collect, but did throw him under EQ and the All in final future pool.
