Was reading something really interesting called "Explosive Horse"...anyone seen it? Most players (me included, until just recently) don't really subscribe to the idea that their are distinct patterns to be found in speed figures. "Distinct" enough that profits can be had. That's the goal in everything we do, right?

I'll revisit this "Speed Rating Pattern" idea--there is definitely something there. Oh, it's by prolific writer and horse player Al Stanley, I believe.

We have several proprietary methods and ratings--some very good, some "meh". One is an early speed rating I devised called SPEED BLAST. Decided to see how the top-rated speed blast horses do on any races under 6 furlongs.

After a quick look, and eliminating favorites-- found these top Speed Blast horses in shorter sprints:

GPX
1ST TRY ME 6-1
2ND STARSHIP TAXI 6-1
3RD MR TINGLES 8-1
10TH MONTE NE 4-1

GGX
5TH DESERT FOG 6-1
10TH FAST TO FORTUNE 6-1

OPX
1ST STOMPING HOT ROD 5-1

good luck,

-NCG

Kee Late Pick 4 0402

Using Greg's Best 5 consensus yesterday you could have "easliy" hit the late pick 4 paying $274 for .50 cents

For a program that requires NO handicapping skill, and solid contender accuracy...I believe Best-Five is a virtual steal in the software realm, and plenty will agree with that statement. Thanks for the update Larry.

Sharkey: The only "jughead" I know of wears a beanie in the Archie comics. Stanley was well-known at one time...was probably due to RPM's advertising of his work.

A lot of you are on a strict budget--and don't have a ton of money for betting. I've certainly been there--and will probably be there again, someday.
I want to show you the new parlay bets XB has. Just for SA and DM at the moment, it's a fun way to stay in the game and not put much money at risk. For $2 you can get a parlay going that (if you're lucky) could pay off 40, 50, or 100 dollars.

Granted these are very hard to hit, for any large amounts, at least. You'll have fun trying--I guarantee it.

Trainer moves top power at OP

Updating my results, just betting the TM top power horse at Oaklawn Park for the last 2 weeks, no handicapping, betting every race since 3/25

No of bets= 81
winners = 28 (35%)

total win payout = $182.80
total bet = $162.00

profit = $20.80

getting back $1.13 for every dollar bet still not bad over 81 races with no handicapping playing every race.

Thanks for the update, Mike. I thought about trying to be slick, and just transferring the top power-ranked horses from OPX to Horse Tourneys. But alas-HT doesn't have contests for Oaklawn.

When I see an even-money favorite that isn't even top power for the race...I get suspicious. 7th race HELENE JAQUELINE (ML 9/5...bet down to 3 to 5) was a horrible bet--that didn't stop the mystery computer bettors. She was the top Prime Power horse by 7, but was 3rd with Platinum Power. MRS CREWS was top Platinum Power.

It doesn't get any easier than this:
.
1 -MRS. CREWS 9.20 4.60 3.40

DRF STABLE MAIL

Someone on the board here recently mentioned problems with the DRF Stable Mail. They would add horses, but never seem to get notified (he asked for email notices, as everyone does).

Well here's a different problem with that part of DRF...I never was notified in advance about a horse called LIGHTHAWK. All I got was the results! (which I also asked for via email) Nice to know the horse won (paid $8.40)
Thanks DRF!

OPX TM TOP POWER

Mike (aka green80) has recently been posting about profits with the Top Power in place of any actual handicapping @ OPX--so here are Thursday's top Oaklawn picks - before scratches
.

.
W W FITZY looks solid here @ 9/2, as does ASTROLOGER in the next race @ 5-1 ml. Early & Late doubles look winnable, as they always do

No one posting, which means some folks are winning and would rather keep it to themselves-or some folks are losing and would rather keep it to themselves.

Got an email the other day...informing me (among other things), I was "getting more like MikeSal every day" I don't know what that means. I liked Mike-he was always cool with me.

I look at the day's charts when I can, trying to figure why such-and-such horse won that race. I wish there was some kind of mandatory published workout rule. On the west coast most horses show boo-coo workouts--just the opposite on the east coast. Some are only showing one workout, like 6 months ago, etc.

Anyway this is something almost unbelievable...

.

.
These are the last 7 works of a horse that won the 6th race off a long layoff at GGX today. I get all tingly just looking at it--WOW!

Oh yeah...TOP EXECUTIVE paid $73.20 to win

See your buddy and mine: Replay Randall won a couple sweet tourneys today @ HT, for $500 in one, and $1500 in the other. I was actually in the AQ contest, a few places behind. Since I was out of Pop Tarts, Pringles and ice cream, I took that break to go on a grocery run(since my wife only buys "real food" )

When I finally made it back I saw RR had won the AQ contest, as well as the KEE contest. I'm embarrassed to say I also cashed in that AQ tourney in like, 11th place. It cost $12 to enter--I think my 11th-place cut was $11, or thereabouts.

RR swears he doesn't use any software, but the selections he listed sho' looked awful familar, like Platinum picks. Probably just a coincidence...

For the heck of it...I took the top early horses, from several of the speedier tracks sprint races ("top-early" according to TM) - leaving out the ml favs at 2-1 or less. Let's see if we get any winners:

-you're welcome to use these in your contests tomorrow, RR

PLATINUM SPEED

GPX
1ST MS HEADLEY 8-1
2ND SASSY BEAST 9/2
4TH AWESOME BEACH 9/2

TAM
2ND ROYAL BIZ 4-1
3RD GLORT ROLL 3-1
9TH COMPANY STORE 8-1
10TH SOLITARY JACK 12-1

SA
1ST POSTERIZE 5/2
4TH STORMIN RANGER 5-1
5TH COUNT ALEXI 8-1
9TH ENSLEY'S DREAM 5-1

MVR
3RD MARCH MAGIC 10-1
6TH HENRY MAC 12-1
7TH BACCARAT 10-1
