last race at Sam Houston tonight the fits the angle for me... two tries around 1 turn on dirt, attended the pace in both with even finishes. by Declaration of War out of a Chester House mare so a mile should be well within it's wheelhouse. Typically would toss a $1k purchase in a MSW but is worth a stab against this field at current 5-1 odds.

edit: jesus, this is how I know I'm tired. I handicap a 12 horse field assuming its a mile on dirt and the race is actually turf

Jay, this is interesting. What range of figures would you consider to be even in previous sprints? All within 5 points or would it vary more? Hope I'm asking this correctly.

I like them within 5 points of each other, and really like it when the late pace # is the highest.

4 Morning Trial last out 5.5 furlongs figs 82/82/84 stretches out today to a mile. Currently 20-1 let’s give it a shot

Belmont Race 3: 6/5/2021

Tulane Tryst ML 20/1 in a short field. 3 runners in this race "need the lead". This one likes to sit off the pace, and gets a great set up. and the last two sprints, 93 / 99 / 94 and 90 / 94 / 93. Pace #'s fit.

2 points that I have found that favors a stretch-out...

1) Speed....Horses that are closers hardly win when going longer

2) Trainer success in the past at this move

Late horses often run best after changing leads. The problem is that most races have the same or a similar stretch distance. So, they usually come up short a lot, no matter what the distance.
