This is called a contradiction (link)

Sounds like DJT listened to him and repeated the esteemed doctor (cough)

The sooner everyone holds the medical community responsible for erroneous information shouted out, the better off we will all be. What is wrong with saying "we don't know right now"? It would make you look more trustworthy later on

If you want more examples of fauci contradictions, let me know. I'm taking the wife to Joe T Garcia's and the Botanical Gardens for the afternoon so i'll be out (living a life) for the next few hours. I'll be happy to post some later this evening

I realized after calling my 2 doctors today, and a health department in 2 states, that the problem with my conversations with Tucker6 and ElKabong here, about masks, is the way they are approaching it as opposed to actual science:

MASKS are one of the requirements designed to stanch the spread of the virus.

Unless you're using hospital grade PPE or something close, masks don't protect the wearer.

That's not what they're for.

They're to protect everyone else.

And they do a fairly good job at that. All they have to do is intercept exhaled fluid droplets that are a couple of orders of magnitude larger than the coronaviruses they contain. Trap the droplets, trap the virions.

So.... what we're really looking at here a breakdown of the American social contract, at the interpersonal and community level. That is, some people are just too selfish to consider others.

I have watched as the economies in covid hotspots continues to suffer. So if anything, maybe just greed will encourage selfish people to start practicing some CDC recommendations.

States and individuals who have predominantly adopted the "I'm going to live my life" and "I'm not going to do my part in preventing community spread", are already experiencing others staying away from hard-core denialist states, their people, and their businesses.

That's exactly what is happening, and for some reason, the deniers can't connect the dots.

Start looking at states like AZ, FL, TX, etc. and you will see the connection. Their economic recovery will be much slower than other states, between now and New Years 2021.

Plenty of people here spend time posting pro Trump material.

(46zilzal doesn't have that many posts on a weekly basis compared to many others.)

So, based on your stated judgement, are we to assume that those who post a lot of pro-Trump material (and are not retired) are losers and imposters in their fields of work and careers?

If you were a pro Trumper, mask-denier, etc. they'd be quoting you (like they do all the "internet doctors") and hanging on to your every word.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Most people know that medical school isn't the same as an OSHA course, or a "degree from Google".

Spate of new research supports wearing masks to control coronavirus spread

Ah, the old "deniers" meme. Don't look now, but your inner HCAP is showing.

"mask denier". I love your way with words. Remember to spread in a few middle-of-the-road comments every now and then to keep us guessing as to whether you are progressive or not. Don't worry, I won't tell anybody on here that your dishonest. At least HCAP bleeds blue and doesn't hide it. There's nothing worse that someone who doesn't own his/her real opinions.

So where was all this "research" and "science" at the beginning of the pandemic? Had no studies ever been done on masks prior to April 2020? Was it all incorrect anecdotes that led us astray? I marvel at how "science" changes with the political winds, don't you? I wonder if Trump put himself behind masks that the "science" would change. We wonders at that.

THAT IS PRECISELY WHY THE "SCIENCE" WAS SO INDECISIVE ABOUT MASKS!

THEY KEPT WAITING TO SEE WHICH WAY THE TRUMP ADMIN WINDS WOULD BLOW REGARDING MASKS, so that they could PIVOT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION....

Every few days, my wonderful Republican governor walks on to the stage, in front of media, with his health expert. BOTH ARE WEARING MASKS.

They both set a good example for the citizens in their state.

Keep TRYING tucker6. Keep trying.

Today, Gov Asa Hutchinson conferenced with other govs because of his concern for "behaviors".

His concern is that "common sense practices" like masks and social distancing aren't being practiced.

He asked that individuals do what they can to support their local businesses by doing the responsible thing: wearing a face covering plus practicing social distancing and hand washing. This keeps assumptomatic and pre-symtomatic people from spreading covid-19 within the community.

Obviously, he *gets* the economic aspect of it.....and that hot spots and what they do to consumer confidence in the towns and cities where those things aren't being done, and lack of contact tracing, etc.

If you want tourists and consumers, then you will show that you are using "common sense" practices. Masks are part of those practices.

Everybody I know only patronizes those businesses who have inspired confidence that we will be among other shoppers and employees who are practicing good common sense stuff. I've been driving around and seeing it with my own eyes. Nobody is going to churches that don't have mask requirements.

Parking lots are pretty empty at venues where evidence of spread and transmission is occuring. Cuz everyone knows where the clusters are occuring in places of worship, stores, bars, and venues when you live in a smaller place, where they are either not adhering to guidelines or are exhibiting poor practice of adhering to guidelines.

I said this months ago......hit the deniers in their pocketbooks if don't understand the community contract or concern for others.

I will let everyone know that you think Gov Hutchinson is a progressive.
Just because he's not iN DENIAL like Trump & Co. he's still a good Republican. Not a nutcase though, thank goodness.
Let's watch the economics of the decision to ignore CDC guidelines, and also how all this affects some governors reelections as well.
Not everyone, not even Republican officials, are Trump boot-liickers.

Seems like maybe Tucker6 is really annoyed that I choose my candidates based on their leadership, and not by party lines.

Then, lacking an explanation for that (because he only sees things in black or white) he will continue to name-call and try to label me, you're either a Trump bootlicker, or "something else".

I fully expect to be called a socialist commie by his next post, simply because I exercise my right to vote both republican and democrat, based on leadership issues.

I guess that's why that leadership word is starting to get under Trump's skin.
Maybe he's afraid to be judged on that aspect because the conversations both here and abroad appear to be zeroing in on his lack of leadership abilities of late.

You will see more elected officials, who like my Governor, are able to work across the aisle and are not extremists.......and people like me will vote for them. Win/win!

South Korea had it and used it. They didn't make it political.

Nope. I really don't.

Because I understand what the scientific method is. And I don't conflate it with politics.

---Science evolves as more knowledge does.
---As they learn more, advisories change. (This is as it should be).
---When you Learn more, you change to adapt.

In the beginning, we didn't even understand transmission. Now we know --- droplets. Then, there was no research/medical consensus about asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission. Now we know, and masks/face coverings are critical to limiting community spread (to protect others) and everyone can do their part.

(many asian nations already knew this).

"Consensus" isn't certainty, but it's much better insurance that the biomedical community as a whole has got its ducks in a row on this matter.

Social distancing, combined with masks and handwashing, have been proven in asian nations to work.

So, there's a HUGE difference between "science is evolving" and ""I don't want to do this because freedom/Trump and Pence don't wear a mask"" which has happened in some states.

Here's what science is not:
---people who do not understand the scientific method, saying that the scientists and people with medical degrees "don't know what they are doing because they are constantly changing their minds."
--Politics is responsible for quack science; predicated on knee-jerks and propaganda. With an election coming up, worse. Money is also responsible for bad science, and why Big Pharma continues to do what they do (allowed by both Democrats and Republicans) mucking up the science (purposely) because they have a vested interest in selling stuff.
