Not all of us live in a state where we can access an ADW with a decent rebate program. Nor do all of us want to go through the hassle of getting an offshore book to gain a decent rebate, only to wake up one morning and find the account is locked/closed/moved/sold/missing.

What sticks in my craw most about rebates is that they're a symptom of how the little guy just keeps getting kicked in the teeth. If takeout rates on pools averaged 12% instead of 20-22%, and whales got a 3% rebate and I got 1%, then I'd have to find something else to complain about.

But it appears from my point of view what few breaks the tracks/adws/politicians/horsemen have given to the "payout" side of the game over the last 10 years have been quickly swallowed up by rebates to whales. Where as 20 years ago I could hold my own over the course of a year, now I have to be a wonder-capper to finish in the black.

Jeff's predictions in post 158 in this thread are quite probable - we'll be just like South America in 10 years - small purses, and horses averaging over 100 starts lifetime in slow times...

This was the exact point i was making to Seabiscuit. He wants a rebate handed to him on a silver platter...but, what it comes down to is this. Bettors shouldnt want every Tom, Dick and Harry just handed a cushy rebate, they should want the "system" set up as it is....as long as there are people willing to show up at the live venues and bet into full takeout, there will always be "full takeout" available for them to bet into.

Some businesses will sell you an item on "Sale" but you have to "do the work" to find the coupon or the other method to get a discount. If Best Buy is selling a DVR player for 199 and you can get the same player on Amazon for 179, why should Best Buy just "hand" a customer 20 dollars if that customer is willing to pay 199 for it?

"full takeout" is not efficient, revenue maximizing takeout so why should I want this for anybody?
