I know it's a business, but when you take one of these misfits of the Ramsey's, and make them into a champion, you should reap the rewards. I don't blame him for leaving the Ramsey's, it's disrespectful.

Not the first time Catalano has lost a powerful owner.

Catalano is a very personable, down-to-earth guy behind the scenes.

He didn't loose Ramsey, he ended the relationship with them, the way I read it. They didn't send back Stephanie, but he still had 20 or so that he was training when they split, and continues to train several babies at his Keeneland barn, which is where all the good babies started last spring. People forget that these are horses, not cars, and you don't just put oats in them and they run out the TV. Catalano put all the foundation in Animal Kingdom, got him to the races and through the terrible twos.

As far as loosing "powerful owner" Frank C, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to Wayne. He has had two Breeder's cup champs, and his earnings per Equibase have gone straight up. Frank C continues to be king of the cheap claimers at Gulfstream. Do the math, I think Wayne came out on top.
