First Time Lasix
Never really paid any attention to this angle before.
Last night (Jan 3) there were three horses at woodbine that fit this angle and they were
Race 4 #3 Royal Becquet
Race 6 #8 Haji
Race 11 #8 My Fella
Royal Bequet ran very well to miss just by a neck to come 3rd at 9.75-1
Haji who was coming of a qua was nowhere
My Fella ran like a champ off some very poor performance lines and won and paid $46.70.
I did a google search and came up with some info regarding Lasix and heres the link if you are interested in reading
http://www.thinkythings.org/horseracing/lasixinfo.html
I for one would be looking at these horses very carefully in future.
I would be very interested to know if any members on this board follow this first time or second time lasix angle and what are your findings.

I really like this angle, it's one of my highest bonus factors in the computer program.
I think the 2nd time Lasix, following an improved 1st time showing, is best.
The animal seems to "brave up", (wish they could talk and tell us. )

From my data base for 1/1/08 to 10/31/08 (Almost all North American Harness Tracks)
First time Lasix or going back on Lasix after racing without it
Starters 2543
Wins 368
Return $4,107.10
ROI -19.2%
2nd time Lasix
Starters 2106
Wins 318
Return $3,611.70
ROI -14.3%
Returns are skewed a bit because of:
Sunrise JD paid $233.60 to win on 10/11 at Bangor 2ndxL
Total Impact paid $124.80 to win at Windsor on 9/28 1stxL
I don't have any way to filter out 2xL after improved race but suspect it returns better. It's a factor to pay attention to.

Thanks afor bringing this up in Harness biscuit.......and Ray as usual, you are an info machine........
As Ray stated, after a 1st start with Lasix, I especialy like the front running or 1st over types that have been racing somewhat competitively (trying), but coming up short at the wire in their most recent starts.......This takes on added significance to me if the horse has shown he as the ability to run as quick or even quicker than the herd vying for the win in todays event.....
best,

also look for 2nd time L for filles. and a strong angle is if the trouble line before the 1st L reads "bid, hung"

I love this angle.
1st, 2nd, 3rd time lasix.
Favorite time to use it are on horses who weaken or get hung.
IMHO its not to helpful to a horse is even throughout or closes.

"Idiatone" is on to something with his post that many overlook....first time lasix seems to help the colts immediately if they are speed types that bled hurting their stamina. 2nd time lasix on fillies is just as strong an angle for those types. Of course if a horse has no talent...the lasix will not help. Like every other handicapping angle...it must be in context and alert you to a possible 'wake-up' .......providing benefit of doubt to longer shots for possible upgrade and some mild skeptisism for favorite "chalk." Every year i find some trainers that provide "the juice" to their stock first or second time that gives me an overlay. Good luck!

No Lasix = No Bet.
In general, in Southern California races, maidens who aren't on Lasix are a toss for me. Occasionally one who isn't on lasix might fly, but more often than not they are just in the race for orientation purposes.

From what I could gather from some of the posts on this thread is that Lasix is much more prevalent in the T-Bred industry as compared to harness.

Though this may be true, the Lasix angle has been well used in harness handicapping,up here in Ontario, for what seems like 20 years,at least.
