Neither has the dead rail apparently- unless it's frozen. When that track froze it was a paved highway.

Great fact about more names than announcers that is probably the only track with that claim to fame.

Also gotta love hearing Spencer Ross doing the OTB commentary and the preferred disco music in the background. I've posted here before the old Roosevelt Raceway intro was "Express" by BT Express.

I once took a full week of leave to go to Philly Park every day during the late 80s when the track was frozen. It was an absolute goldmine. I remember betting horse at 10-1 that won by 19 lengths. We tried to watch outside but it was too damn cold to last the whole race, single digits and wind chills well below zero. They'd never run these days if it was that cold.

I'm imagining the scene in Caddyshack where the old man has the greatest golf game of his life during the lightning storm and then gets struck by lightning on the 18th hole.

Keith called his last race today. Lovely little speech from him at the end of the card.

indeed an awesome and inspirational man. i learned a lot by watching this last race call by seeing how talented an individual you have to be to do that job great.

many thinks to Peter Berry, Tony Kalo and Vic (goof on roof) Stauffer for giving us their hearts and souls to this game as well.
