A new way to be DQ'd

In the first at Chelmsford UK today I hit the easy 8-1 winner. An inquiry was launched and he was ultimately disqualified. The saddle cloth fell off during the race which meant he was 3lbs light.

Brutal beat. Never have seen that before.

Shoe on other foot...horse loses and you get money back. Makes
sense.

Had a 20-1 shot DQ'd for the Jockey (Ricky Frazier) weighing out light. Big controversy at the time

http://articles.latimes.com/1990-11-...1_horse-racing

Today in San Mateo, Ricky Frazier, the jockey who started the Final Fourteen with 126 pounds and came back about two minutes later weighing only 123 1/2, will try to explain the discrepancy to Bay Meadows' stewards. Crash dieters hope to learn something from the testimony.

If a lead pad, which burdens a horse if the jockey himself isn't heavy enough to reach the assigned weight, got away from Frazier sometime during the running of the Final Fourteen, it will not have been a racing first.

I was not refunded my wager amount. It was treated as any other foul dq. Strange.

A similar incident happened in the Belmont Stakes a few years ago too, now that would've been quite a ruckus if the horse fared better.

Trusting Zippy's understanding of racing is always dangerous.

Weigh in light and you do your money cold, no refund no chance of winning.

I remember that well. A friend of mine was one of the owners of Uptowncharlybrown. Apparently the saddle used and placed by a NYRA valet caused one of the lead pads to fall off. She was so excited to have her horse place 5th in the Belmont only to be brought down that way. She eventually came to accept that those are the rules and it was technically a legit DQ, though a tough beat, especially since there was no attempt to cheat.

Another odd happening in my intl racing adventures. Good card at Dundalk today and someone had a medical issue in the parade ring before the 3rd. Problem is there are no beds to intake at the nearest hospital and the next closest hospital is 26 miles away. Bigger problem is all the ambulance workers are on strike today in Ireland. They abandoned the rest of the card. Wild.

Weight Matters

Many horse players seem to ignore it.
It's an important factor, and weighing in light is breaking the rules.
So is weighing in heavy.

As far as UK/Irish racing rules go, I think I can top this DQ.
Every race has a listed starting time over there.
For example, if the 2:15 at Ascot goes off at 2:14, it can be declared void.

It's happened there before - can't remember the track, or exactly when.
Starter's watch was a bit fast - oops!

A little different spin and no pari-mutuel impact, but this was brutal:
