Syndicate Leader

If you had the capital and wanted to start a horse racing betting syndicate, who on this forum would you choose to head it. Name and possibly a short reason why.

Not syndicate members (with specialized talents), an individual to head the syndicate.

Let's have some fun.

If I had the capital the person I would choose would be myself and this is not ego talking; it is my belief that I can run my own business better which I did for the most of my professional career.

In my mind I would look for people who know how to build and manage a for profit business enity and within that busines structure the experts (handicappers and gamblers) would be added to a cadre of good quantitative analysts.

If there was another person besides myself and this is not to disparage or insult any poster, but it would be either "PaceAdvantage" or "Mountain Man" and I would choose either of those two based on my readings of their posts on this Forum.

I would have DeltaLover in charge of the handicapping...and EMD4ME in charge of the betting. And I would sit back and count our profits...a task which I'm sure would be a full-time job.

Magister Ludi I think he is already in one.

I'd choose Thaskalos as the managing partner with the understanding that he can choose anyone he wishes to do the handicapping or betting if he wanted to lay off some of that work.

This was way too easy.

CJ, with a close second being Game Theory.

CJ for his racing knowledge and data expertise, and his many contacts, industry wide. He would be the one to gather the employees and oversee production.

GT because of his overall intelligence and technical skills. He would ramrod the data storage and handling, and hardware/software development. There are several others who could help with those tasks also, DeltaLover, Magister Ludi, etc..

There is also a plethora of skilled racing analysts here, that could be used in support of data usage.

The on track specialists, and their subjective analysis, would be the tough part, IMO.

In the end this is about putting a business together for syndicated betting.

Bill Gates was the genius behind Microsoft software development, but Steve Ballmer leadership achieved greater profits.

Yes, there are some posters on this forum with a very high handicapping IQ, but that will not put the syndicate business plan in the right direction.

A major problem with this industry today, is there is not enough intelligence about the customer in today's high tech betting and handicapping.

Like it or not; that is what the Ivy Leaguers and similar types do very well.

That's why CJ would be at the top of my list (at least from this board), rather than GT, because of the industry contacts that CJ has. CJ would be project manager, and GT would be the tech guy.

Yes, you have to have someone to put the right people and the right tools together, and who sees the "big picture". You also need a 2nd in command, who knows what is needed to produce the product. And under that person you need specialists in all the specific facets of the organization, with some being multi-skilled personnel for overlap in task coverage.

Curtis Crayon although not sure he is a member of this board. If not, PKTD.

IF I had the capital, first I would seriously consider putting my money into a high takeout business.

Now, If I am being forced to put it in horseracing, then I would pick
DeltaLover
CJ and
ChrisLongshot (the X factor)
