Tim McCarver has passed away

All time great baseball color analyst.

Favorite line about Bob Gibson

Gibson pitched like he was double parked.

Rest in Peace, Tim. Like many in this day he could have talked a little less.
I remember Chick Hearn once apologizing to the TV audience for talking too much because it was simulcast on radio. Guys like Tony Romo who have a great knowledge of the game drive me nuts with the constant chatter.

I still remember as a kid watching McCarver in the 1964 World Series hit that HR in the 10th inning to win that 5th game against the Yankees in that very good World Series. He had a great series hitting safely in every game. RIP.

Damn. He was good.

As a former player he let the game unfold without his over-analyzation.

Getting into my 50s, and seeing many of your memories and people you idolized die away really sucks.

I really enjoyed listening to McCarver and Kiner on Mets broadcasts. Sometimes the rain delays were better than the games.

My favorite McCarver story about Bob Gibson.

"I go out to the mound to talk to him about a batter and situation in the 7th inning of a game, and Gibson yells at me before I can get to the mound "get back behind the plate. The only thing you know about pitching is YOU can't hit it"

RIP, good guy
