Lanfranco Dettori at Santa Anita

Not real surprising, but the exuberant 'flying dismount' is off to a hot start in the States at the current Santa Anita meet. With 3 wins on opening day, and another added just yesterday, his record stands at 11(4-1-2).

Of particular note is his taking to the unique hillside turf course where he currently has a 2 for 2 record. One win in gate to wire fashion, and the other from off the pace with a furious finish.

His 4 wins have come from 3 different trainers, and interestingly enough, the 1st race today is the G2 Joe Hernandez Stakes rolling 'down the hill'. Can Lanfranco keep it rolling on the hillside turf with a 4th different trainer in Dan Blacker?

Regardless, Dettori has been a great addition to the jockey colony at The Great Race Place and adds his flair and panache to an already great meet thus far.

The minute I heard that super agent Ron Anderson was taking his book for this stint - I know I wasn't going to be surprised by any success he was going to have.

Hunh????

Dettori @ 6 1/2 downhill at SA is 2-for-15 lifetime, and may have been riding on it before some of his fellow riders were born.

His career began across town, not across the pond.

Yes, 2 for 2 this meet (now 2 for 3).

Not sure how stats from 30+ years ago for a bug jockey Frankie are relevant, but supposedly they are.

0 for 4 yesterday, and a complete non-factor in all 4 races.
